Tennis Season!

Well, the Sony Ericsson open just finished today. It is one of the largest Opens of the season. It is the last one on hard courts before all the players head out of the states and hit the clay. It was full of surprises.

I just love tennis and know that I bore everyone around me with it. It goes beyond just loving to play, I love the SPORT. I love to play it , watch it and talk about it. Since this is my blog....this is where I get to just bore you with it.

This week was an amazing week of upsets in the tennis world. The number one and two players didn't just get knocked out before the finals, a racquet got thrown. Rafael Nadal lost to Andy Murray in the semi's and that was a little suprise. However, the racquet thing is about as bad as it gets in tennis. Funny, huh? It wasn't so much that it happenned, it was more who did it. Roger Federer! One of the most composed and diplomatic players in the sport right now. He rarely shows emotion and this was over the top for him. He was playing Djokovic. I happen to love Novak Djokovic but he is a little arrogant about his level of play, so he isn't usually a crowd favorite. The crowd was definitely rooting for Roger. Roger won pretty easily in the first set and then it just seemed the wheels came off from there. He timing was way off, he couldn't find his zone and he just missed shots that he would not normally miss.

When asked about it in an interview this was his response-

Q. You've had other matches where things aren't going as well and you don't get as upset about that particular moment. What was different about today that you just lost it there for that moment?
ROGER FEDERER: I didn't lose it. I was just frustrated. Just because I smashed the racquet doesn't mean I lose it. Didn't feel great. Didn't feel -- it's just a natural thing I did.
Q. When fired your racquet into the court, did that feel good?
ROGER FEDERER: Not really. Not really.
Q. Do you remember the last time you broke a racquet, Roger?
ROGER FEDERER: Could have been here against Rafa.

Hmmmm, I can't say I haven't wanted to throw my racquet. I have wanted to several times. I did toss my racquet across the court once when I was finished playing a terrible match. If I ever do throw it, I hope I can really do it justice like this....

Yep! Good Job! Roger is having a tough time. I hope he can pull himself together and do well on the clay.I love watching him.

So, Andy Murray went on to win the mens championship against Novak! He is the first British Player to do this. Serena beat her sister Venus in the semi final only to lose to Victoria Azerenko in the finals.

Now, on the the not so pro tour specs. I play in a tournament this weekend. It should be interesting. This is a huge tournament with a lot of talent and plenty of competition. I don't know what my draws are yet so I will let you know and you can come show your support. I am already nervous and it is only Sunday!
