Santa!

We had our annual visit with Santa at the "Santa brunch". Jaya sat on Santa's lap first. She told him she wanted a flower and a watering can. I don't know where she pulled this out of but she wants a watering can. I guess I am off to find a pink watering can. Hmmm, maybe I can bling it??;)

Jaxx wants Wii Music. I heard this is a highly requested item this year so I hope Santa made enough! It is Grace's first Christmas!

We didn't get to take enough pictures of all the grand parents but it was still good to see everyone.

Home Sweet Home

We MOVED! We are spending Christmas in a new home. It is really our "old" new house, as the kids say. It feels good to be home. All the stuff is exactly where is was before. It is hard to explain but it almost feels like the 18 months that we haven't been here was a flash. I just can't put the feelings into words weird, wonderful, new, old, exciting, comfy... but most of all "home".
It was a pretty hectic move, as most are, but I had a lot of help. Joanne and my Mom helped me a lot. The kids were both sick, Jace was working or had prior golf "commitments"( He did spend a night unpacking with his mom while I worked upstairs) and I was frantically unpacking. The kids got to go mountain hiking with Grama and Mimi. Mimi took them to McDonalds to eat and play and Grama took them shopping at Target. I could not have done it as quickly as I did without their help. We managed to get it all finished. The boxes are gone, the pictures are hung and the decorations are up! (the dog is pretty content too)

I still have no Christmas shopping started so that is my next task. When I think about that part I feel a lot like this......

The kids are happy, we are close to Papa and Grama, closer to Mimi, closer to friends and just back on the ol' stompin grounds! There is no 30 minute commute to school, work, shopping, friends or sports! We are spending a lot less money on gas and a lot less time in the car.
So, that is why I haven't had to much time for bloggin' or answering emails.

Blog Slackin'

Just a short post. I have been M.I.A. for a few weeks now. I have a ton of pics to post and a lot of things to blog but just way to busy to sit down and devote the time I want to blog now. So, until I can get around to it....I hope you got our Christmas card. I hope that Thanksgiving was yummy and relaxed. Lastly, I hope you stay tuned for pics of Thanksgiving, the "reveal", Santa's lap, and Jaya's recital. Whew!
Stay tuned!

Thanksgiving??

Yes, this is how far behind I am...
Well, Thanksgiving was good. The kids had what they call "the feast" at their school. Jace couldn't make it, as the foreclosure auctions he has to bid at, don't stop for ANYTHING! So, I was greatful for having the kids at the same school. I thought I would just go back and forth the best I could. All the classes are in the same room. They file in one by one and their own little personal placemats are there for them. The kids all make their own placemats that same week. They all sit on the floor. I helped serve the kids after getting a phone call from Susan. She is on the board at the kids school ,since her son also goes there, so we made a trade. I will let you know more about her end later but my end was to help in the kitchen. Each class makes something during the week to contribute to the meal. One class makes homemade applesauce, green beens, mashed pototaes, corn etc. Everything but the turkey. So, after the plates were all ready and the kids were filing in, Papa showed up. He was just in time to sit with Jaxx and his class. It worked out well and the kids were excited to have him there.
Jaya had to dress for the "feast" don't ya know???

This is Jaya's class.
Here is Jaxx's class.

Here are the first and the third Johnson generations! Do they look anything alike? ;)

Thanksgiving day was relaxing and enjoyable. We went to see my Mom at the Swaine's and then to the Justin and Susan's for the second round. I stuffed myself like a turkey and loved it! Jim and Joanne spent the day at Josh and Rachael's with Rachael's family. Grace is so adorable and getting big. Jaya wants to babysit her so she can smother her with kisses. She really just loves to kiss Grace over and over again. She calls Grace her favorite cousin! It is her only cousin, by the way :)
I did manage to get my Christmas cards out just as I wanted. Now, that you all have them, I can post some pics that were taken that day that didn't make the card but were still cute. These are from my camera but Reagan is the one that met us on the course that day and took pics. The pics turned out so cute and the one of Jaya that I used on the Christmas card is being used by the lady that sells Jaya's pettiskirts online. Her site is www.chicbabyrose.com . She is so wonderful about customer service and her stuff is to die for! Not the cookie cutter stuff you see everyone else have. I am addicted to these skirts and so is Jaya. So, check it out if you need something for birthday party wear or special occasions.

I love this pic of Jaxx just hanging...

This is one my favorite expressions of Jaya's. She uses this often when she is singing or dancing.

She is quite the performer!

So, I know Thanksgiving is just a memory now but I had to share.
More post soon so that I can catch up!

First Ballet Performance

Just a little notice to any of you that are interested in seeing Jaya in her first ballet perfomance, December 13th at 3. I have been lucky enough to see a sneak peak of this and it is so very cute. I hope she isn't intimidated by the crowd because she really gives it her all. I can't wait to get it on tape!
We are still looking at some positive possibilities on our horizon.
Keep you posted.

Just Life...

Wow, has it been awhile or what? Nothing exciting has happened. It has just been "life" that has been keeping us busy.

Jaxx has had 2 t-ball games a week. The team has actually moved on to "coach toss" and he is doing well. He had a great game Saturday. He only had to use the "T" one of the three at bats. He played short stop and had 3 great stops. He loves to run and considers his running skills a failure if he gets out. The first time he was tagged a few games ago, I had to give him a little pep talk to stop the tears. Now, he can brush it off but I still have to remind him that "it happens".

Lately, we have been throwing the football a lot. He can really throw it well. It spirals and everything :0 but I pretty much throw like a girl. I keep hitting him in the face, luckily, it is a Nerf ball. He loves it. He isn't so great at the catching part so maybe he is just meant to be a QB.

Jaya is still loving school and ballet. Her class is starting to rehearse for her Dec. 14th "recital". If you are family, mark it on your calender. It should be pretty funny. She is not the youngest in the class but she is the tallest and seems to get the skills better than the others. I am not just saying that because I am her mother :) well, maybe. The "dance" and I use this term loosely, is to "jingle bells". So, we sing that a lot around here. We are talking about the Holidays and what is coming soon. Jaxx has total control of the "Toys r us" catalog. I think everything in the book is circled (talk about learning "dissapointment"). I LOVE LOVE LOVE this time of the year!

Jace is doing well at work. He is so loving what he is doing. You can just tell by the energy in his voice when we talk throughout the day. He doesn't have as much time for golf but his game is still fine, of course, never good enough for him! And we wonder where our kids get it???

I have still been playing on two tennis leagues. Both of which, are in the number one spots. In one league, we can't be passed as far as points so I know we are going to semi-finals. I haven't played in a semi finals with a team before so I can't wait for that. I volunteered to captain that team next season after we move up. I am not sure that was smart but we'll see. The other team could still be overcome but we hope to seal it tomorrow night.

For those of you more familiar with my "match" play. I play singles in my USTA matches on Monday night. I have a winning record and the most recent loss, about a month ago, was a girl that is great. She also has a winning record but no one has beaten her yet in singles. No one has even taken a set from her.....except....me. The last time we played, I beat her 6-2, then she beat me 4-6. We had to go to a 10 point tie break and I just got behind in the count and lost. Sooooo, I won more games but lost the match. I am really hoping to get a re-match tomorrow night. We play her team but they switch courts a lot so we can't tell what court she is going to play until we exchange line ups at 8 p.m. tomorrow night. I know she is beatable, I just want the chance.

We have a lot of potential changes, sitting on the horizon. They are all positive and if any of them come to fruition ,we will let you know. The last few years have been rough. We have been treading water at times and that makes you tired. Then when you see land you swim as fast as you can to seize it. The land is in site and we are swimming hard. I hope to report some good news in the next 15-30 days.

Other news that will make most of you smile, is that I have all the Christmas cards addressed and sitting here. They will go out the day after Thanksgiving, which is always my goal. I love the way they turned out but I am not giving anything away.

And to leave you with a smile on your face, here is the latest Jaxx self portrait. Do you remember how he sneaks my camera and leaves me surprises? The other night when I was trying to show Joanne how to use a digital camera...I found this.

We all had a great laugh!

Laugh more, love more and live more. These are great goals!

Very Scary...

So, Halloween day started out innocently enough. Jaya came in at 6:40 a.m to tell me that Dad's coffee maker was making noises. She proceeded to try to make the gurgle and bubble noises. I jumped up as fast as I could and tried to cover up the fact that Jaxx was sleeping next to me. I felt like a guilty kid trying to hide the candy sitting in plain site next to me. Jaxx crawled into bed next to me, at some point last night. I vaguely remember him saying something like "your bed is so comfy" as he shimmied his little buns under the covers. The coffee machine was set to start making coffee at 6:30 and it is sort of loud, I guess it woke up the "tornado". So, when she came blowing into our room, the first thing I thought of was her seeing Jaxx sleeping next to me. The last thing I need is for her to start thinking this is an o.k. policy. I have not been able to break the first kid from it, I certainly don't need a second one in there too. I really couldn't get up fast enough and basically pushed a very cozy and settled in, Jaxx, right off the edge as I did.
Up and at 'em, at least I knew the coffee was ready. It was one of those mornings that I thought I had plenty of time to get ready and then ended up rushing around. The kids had parties in class today so I had little t shirts for them to wear since there was no costumes allowed. I got Jaxx's out and he got dressed, while I was drying my hair. Jaya, however, was trying to find hers and took out about everything in her drawers to find it. I guess she enlisted Jace in the hunt, at some point, because she came in with it on and other very NON matching things. This went on for awhile until I finally went into her room and found the clothes scattered everywhere. I got her dressed, rushed outside to take some pics and buckle them in the car.
I set my cell phone gently on the top of the car while trying to wrangle Jaya and her pettiskirt in the car seat. Can you guess where my cell phone ended up? I called Jace from a payphone about 4 miles down the road to ask him to go look at the route I took and see if he could find it. He did, crushed to smitherings and looking like it had been run over about a million times. The silver lining was, at least I had the memory out of it, so that I didn't lose all my numbers. Tomorrow I will be at the phone store!
The kids helped me make breadstick bones at dinner time. Hmmm, I wonder if you can tell which one Jaya contributed? The others didn't make it to the tray since I looked up and found them wrapped around her feet. Should have gotten a pic of that!

After dinner and tub, it was time to get ready for the big night!

This one almost looks like he is too cool to be hugging a Princess. I tried to get him to give her a kiss. That was idea was turned down faster than a loan application in a recession.

I sat some chairs out on the driveway and Jace stayed at the house while I took the kids around the neighborhood. Mom and Dad came over and then our friend Chris, soon there were 5 or 6 chairs out there while we chatted. Jace had the wine flowing and I was sort of going inside and out. I put the kids to bed and Mom read them a story so I popped out there again. Of course, the topic ended up being political so I didn't stay out there long. Let's just suffice it to say that we are all not voting the same in the Johnson family and politics and booze is not a good mix. I mean, really, we don't even need booze for it to get heated so I came back in to watch Lipstick Jungle ( new night, new episode). I had planned to be planted in front of the t.v. at 9. I don't know how I have evolved into a such a boring and predictable human, but I have.

Mom said she was going to tell Dad she was ready to go and I told her I would see her tomorrow for Jaxx's golf lessons. I had just heated the leather to my rear when she came running in with this look on her face. It was a look that said something is happening outside that is unusual but I just can't get it out of my mouth. She finally said she needed a tupperware or bowl right away. I was actually able to take a breath and say to myself, "self, it is fine, just a scorpion again" . Oh, I said "Is there a scorpion?". Jace has found 2 scorpions at this house that could carry the house away if they wanted . I am not kidding, the kind you see in resin, being sold at the novelty shop at the zoo, they came from our house.

"NO! A rattlesnake!"
What! A rattlesnake! Now, as I am typing this, I don't really know why I continued to look for a tupperware bowl. I mean, I even remember thinking, what size should I get? As I am rushing outside, all sorts of visions are running through my head. I was just out there barefoot, my kids were out there with their socks on, how big is it? Where is it? Where did it come from? How long had it been there?
So, I get outside and there it is under the chair that Jace was sitting in for about 2 hours chatting it up. It was about 15 or 18 inches long, so not very big, which makes it more dangerous. Now, keep in mind that Mom and I are the only ones that have not been drinking. Chris is telling me to get a shovel, which would be easy enough except the I would have to walk through the two cars in the garage and the snake is firmly planted dead center of the two cars....in the garage. I am scrambling to find something and Jace is saying that he is going to put the tupperware over the snake. Now, I have visons of being in the ER with Jace while all the people in there are making jokes about some guy that has been drinking, playing with a rattlesnake. I regain common sense and finally realize that the tupperware bowl is NOT a good idea. I just really want this snake away from the cars and the garage. I find a stick that we have in the garage that we use when we walk.....in the desert. How ironic! I yell at Chris to get it out of the garage. He flings it down the drive way and almost on to Dad. Then Jace thinks he can get the tupperware bowl on now:) Chris and I are adamant that this is not happening. A semi truck carrying turf grass, drives up and shines a flash light down on it so we can all confirm what we know....it is, indeed, a rattlesnake. The truckdriver says to kill it. I think we looked liked we needed some direction to go. Here are 5 adults looking at a baby rattlesnake. One has a stick in his hand, one has a tupperware bowl in his hand, one has a glass of wine in his hand and two women that are ready to climb on top of the car. Yeah, I think we looked like needed guidance! The snake was pissed off at this point. It has been flung around and had some giant trying to come at it with a large dome shaped item. It has struck out a few times but it small enough that it just takes one good blow with the stick and it is dead. The big game hunters examine their kill for a minute, talk about eating it and then carry it ever so gingerly, by the tail, to the garbage can.

Now, I have to examine this. These guys have been out there for hours, Chris looks down and calmly tells Jace that there is a snake under his chair. Jace jumps up and they realize that it is a rattlesnake. My questions are, when did it arrive? Where did it come from? Are there more of them in the area? How close were any of us ,at any given time ,as we danced, talked and walked around barefoot????

I didn't get a picture of the snake since it was a frantic few moments. I thought about going and taking one as it lie in the garbage can but .... I didn't like looking at the scorpions, let alone, a rattlesnake. The idea that we had one so close to the kids, freaks me out. I hate the thought of it. So, if you read this blog and have thoughts that Arizona is some dry desert with rattlesnakes, scorpions and gun toting cowboys, I just about confirmed that, in this story. We really are a civilized society with upscale malls and exclusive spas. A wonderful vacation spot ;)

So, it was a scary Halloween that we won't forget. How as yours?
